Matching & Data Observations

Bihar Government Internship Allocation Portal

Observations and allocation algorithms analyzed during work on the Bihar Government Internship Portal.

Next.jsJavaSpring BootPostgreSQLTailwindCSS

The Problem Context

Allocating thousands of engineering students to relevant government internships manually was prone to matching conflicts, unfair distributions, and massive operational delays.

The Proposed Solution

Assisted in optimizing the matching workflow. Designed a Next.js front-end reporting interface connected to a Spring Boot backend executing allocation heuristics based on student academic rankings (GPA) and location preferences.

System Architecture & Patterns

01Secure backend allocation engine handling multi-college student databases
02Real-time visual map components marking student placement distribution
03Consolidated administrator portal to run allocation rounds in minutes

Engineering Challenges

Resolving tie-breakers in student GPA rankings when matching for popular internship spots in restricted geographical areas.

Key Features

  • •Dynamic ranking and match logic for student internship preferences
  • •Unified database linking 38 regional government engineering colleges
  • •Detailed allocation metrics dashboard visualizing match distributions

Impact

Inspired deep academic interest in Data & Knowledge Engineering to model, query, and resolve complex real-world matching problems at scale.

Lessons Learned

Real-world allocation challenges are knowledge-intensive. Representing relationship graphs and constraints dynamically is far superior to standard tabular database procedures.
